Photo Gallery: " Go ___ Yourself " Reception

On Thursday, June 21, 2018 LEUR Magazine and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge hosted the closing reception for the go _____ yourself " art exhibition current showing at the Firehouse Gallery.

The show exists to promote self-expression, diversity in community, as well as fighting the misconceptions you have about things in everyday life including the ones you have about yourself.

To compliment the existing 2-D artworks on the walls, we decided to invite performers to add more diversity and dimension to our gallery show. The only protocol given to them was that they could do whatever felt appropriate and authentic for them in that moment. We were giving them a platform and the floor was theirs. We had two local poets, Phil Spotswood and M.D Meyers; a movement-based artist, Alex Barbier; as well as two queer comics from New Orleans, Amanda G. and Alita Glass.

A special thank you to our sponsors, The Law Office of Barrington Neil, LLC as well as Government Taco! Thank you again for supporting local LGBTQIA+ initiatives and Southern queer-based art.
