Ace Hotel New Orleans: CAKE 2017
In the spirit of Southern Decadence, the Ace Hotel New Orleans presented their annual CAKE event which hosts dance parties and other partnering events all Labor Day weekend. On Friday, September 1, contributor, photographer and visual artist Jesse Guillory hosted Noir 96 with creator and violinist Sultana Isham.
Noir 96 is a cocktail party during the CAKE weekender at Three Keys, located at Ace Hotel New Orleans, celebrating the local LGBTQIA+ and POC community. In the past Southern Decadence has lacked representation and events for the local QPOC community. This cocktail party and collaboration with Ace Hotel is here to change that.
"Noir 96 is about the celebration of self-honoring your emotions in a world that tells you that you can't love your truth. There is a space where you can have your cake and eat it too!"
- J. Guillory & S. Isham
After the final hour of the cocktail party, guests and local attendees were blessed with the musical talents of DJ Jasmine Infiniti, as well as rappers Dandy Warhol and BbyMutha. All artists came together for Séancé Volume 3, hosted by Edgeslayer and Sunny D.
"Séancé is a BLACK GIRL CENTERED QTPOC PARTY! FEMME GODDESSES COMING TOGETHER TO WORSHIP. Séancé centers BLACK and TRANS women giving them a space to manifest their wildest dreams through dance and rootwork" - Edge Ra
Thank you to all contacts and Ace Hotel New Orleans for allowing us to cover such a great event. Looking forward to more collaboration in the future.
